I wanted to write more, but with two small kids and two companies to look after, I didn’t feel I had the time.
Then one day I had an idea: What if I could create a distraction-free writing app that combines the benefits of an old-fashioned typewriter with my love of good coffee?
Well, here’s the app! Just as with a typewriter, you can't edit fonts, delete a sentence, or correct misspellings. Instead, you can concentrate on getting your words down on paper in half an hour—the time it takes to finish your coffee.
The typewriter restrictions are purposely built in to the app precisely to help you focus. You’ll quickly feel the flow and that exhilarating straight line between your thoughts, the caffeine, and your words. For me, it was exactly the recipe I needed to make writing a part of my daily routine.
Maybe you won’t hit the thousand-word goal the first time you try the app—and that’s okay. The most important thing you’ll discover is that you really do keep writing!
